WhiteFish Lake Cottage

Whitefish Lake Cottage is a compact family retreat on a grandfathered lakeside site in Ontario, designed for two sisters and their young families. The cottage is organized as a series of interconnected volumes that open toward the lake, creating a balance between privacy and shared gathering spaces. Large windows and generous outdoor terraces strengthen the connection to the surrounding landscape, while natural materials such as knotty pine and local granite root the project within its Muskoka setting. A detached bunkie extends the living space with additional bedrooms and informal gathering areas, while pathways, native landscaping, a stone firepit patio, and a curved cantilevered dock create a seamless transition between architecture and shoreline. Despite its modest scale, the project thoughtfully packs extensive functionality into a warm and relaxed lakeside retreat.
