Parry Sound House
This project involved the renovation of a large, semi-circular home built in the 1970s. Located on a bare granite escarpment toward an elevated view of magnificent Georgian Bay, the sprawling single-story 3,000 sq. ft. plan frames views of the bay through an abundance of south-facing windows and sliding doors. A round reading nook centers the layout and flanks a three-sided internal fireplace, creating a main focal point on the main floor.
This full renovation has left the majority of room layouts intact, but included the resurfacing of all interior spaces. The previously enclosed kitchen was rebuilt to incorporate a modern, open-concept layout connected to a pantry area, breakfast retreat and dining room.
The original fireplace was removed to allow for the installation of a three-sided replacement with a concrete surround and backlit shelving to establish the open concept kitchen, dining and living rooms. The master bedroom and ensuite are appropriately located at the end of the bedroom wing for privacy.
A clean, white interior and the use of valance lighting keep the large floor plan light and airy, whilst accommodating space for new accent furniture, cabinetry and fixtures. These are comprehensive aesthetic solutions for an irregular floor plan layout.
